May 12, 2025: Baby Safety Alliance’s Statement on the Temporary Reduction in Tariffs on Imports from China

Last week, we saw that the Trump Administration is considering exempting certain baby and children’s products from tariffs, and we are encouraged that the Administration is starting to recognize that the importance of the trade war does not surpass the importance of baby safety.

While the temporary decrease in the tariff rate for Chinese imports is a welcome move in the right direction, the Baby Safety Alliance remains steadfast in asking for a broad exemption of baby and children’s products from tariffs, which would assure American families that essential products for the care and safety of babies and children will be affordable and available when they need them most.

Help Spread the Word

Tariffs have significantly impacted the baby products industry, and put babies and children at risk by making life-saving products like car seats, cribs and many others less accessible. We need your help to ensure this message gets out to assist with our advocacy and request for an exemption process.

Please share this graphic on all of your social media outlets using the hashtag #nobabytariffs, and forward to anyone you know who will help spread the word!!! We've included some ideas for posts below (or feel free to use them as-is)!

"Baby products must be exempt from tariffs! These products save lives and protect our children. #nobabytariffs"

"Tariffs on baby products put our babies and children at risk. #nobabytariffs"

We champion safer products for babies and peace of mind for parents.
