Children's Safety Caucus

The Children's Safety Caucus, founded by bipartisan co-chairs and U.S. Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25), Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (GA-01), Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08), and Don Bacon (NE-02), in partnership with JPMA and Safe Kids Worldwide, will work to find and promote solutions to dramatically reduce preventable childhood deaths and injuries. The Caucus provides a dedicated and influential group of lawmakers who are committed to improving child safety.

The inspiration for this Caucus came from the Baby Safety Caucus event that JPMA, Safe Kids Worldwide, and Amazon held at the Capitol in September 2023, with the goal of empowering parents to make safe choices. JPMA and Safe Kids decided to pursue a permanent Caucus in Congress with that same vision and goal. The government affairs teams from both organizations have been working with the co-chairs’ offices, pitching the concept of the Caucus and recruiting new members.

The Children’s Safety Caucus will focus on issue areas like child passenger safety, water safety, and safe sleep issues. An important goal for the caucus is to host meetings and forums throughout the Congressional session to highlight the need for bipartisan support for children’s safety issues. The caucus will update members of Congress and their staff on relevant legislation, best practices to better inform constituents, and host events to promote child safety.
