CPSC Carriage and Stroller Standard

Friday, April 5, 2019   (0 Comments)
JPMA supports the CPSC’s Carriage and Stroller Standard. The standard, 16 CFR Part 1227, incorporate ASTM F-833-15 Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Carriages and Strollers. The Standard includes dynamic performance requirements developed with due consideration of reasonable use and reasonably foreseeable abuse of Strollers. Absent other evidence of specific product defect, conformance to such Standards create a reasonable presumption of safety. Against this presumption, there is a higher burden of establishing a defect.

We also support the Statement of CPSC Chairman Buerkle recently issued to address Settlement of Adjudication with Britax at https://www.cpsc.gov/about-cpsc/chairman/ann-marie-buerkle/statements/statement-from-cpsc-acting-chairman-ann-marie-2.
Faced with the uncertainties of litigation most Administrative Adjudications with which the CPSC has been involved eventually are often subject to settlement.

We champion safer products for babies and peace of mind for parents.
