CPSC Alert on Inclined Sleep Products

Friday, April 5, 2019
Inclined infant sleep products must meet stringent U.S. CPSC requirements based on safety and use. These standards are effective in preventing injuries. For safe sleep, always: place a baby on its back to sleep (unless a pediatrician indicates otherwise), use the restraint, never place pillows, blankets or extra padding in the product. In many of the cited incidents such warnings were not followed. JPMA urges parents to follow manufacturers' instructions for proper use. When available, look for JPMA Certified products to ensure products have been tested to the most stringent standards in the marketplace. Note also CPSC’s public alerts related to safe use of inclined sleep products: https://www.cpsc.gov/content/cpsc-consumer-alert-caregivers-urged-to-use-restraints-with-inclined-sleep-products.

We champion safer products for babies and peace of mind for parents.
