The Safe Sleep Champions Webinar Series has become one of the most meaningful ways Cribs for Kids brings the national safe sleep community together. Each quarter, we highlight voices who are advancing research, innovating practice, and helping families build safer sleep routines. As we step into a new year, we are excited to continue these conversations with our Winter Webinar, Advancing Action with Evidence & Education: Lessons Learned Across 2025 to Our Work in 2026.

This upcoming session features three remarkable leaders whose work reflects the complexity and heart of safe sleep advocacy. Dr. Mary Beth Howard brings a unique perspective from her work in pediatric emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins, where she studies how infant illness intersects with real-world sleep practices. Her research, grounded in family experiences during urgent moments, aims to create interventions that are both practical and compassionate.

Joining her is Dr. Gina Lowell, a general academic pediatrician at Rush University Children’s Hospital. Her expertise spans injury prevention, maternal-child health, and health equity, and her leadership of the CDC-funded SUID Case Registry in Cook County gives her a deep understanding of the structural challenges families face. Her work emphasizes the importance of trauma-informed, community-rooted approaches to supporting parents and caregivers.

We are also honored to welcome Dr. Kyran Quinlan, an educator, researcher, and advocate whose career has centered on preventing infant deaths through data-driven practices. His time with the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service, coupled with his years of service on Child Death Review, has shaped a national perspective that informs his work with Safe Kids Worldwide and his teaching at Rush University Medical Center.

This Winter Webinar offers a chance to learn from leaders who are driving progress in safe sleep across clinical care, research, and community health. We hope you’ll join us for an hour of insight, reflection, and forward-thinking conversation as we move into 2026 with renewed purpose.
