They will also speak about incoming changes and requests for industry guidance, and the recent interactions between Health Canada and the CPSC. Finally, they will speak about reporting differences across jurisdictions and the way that these differences can impact strategy.
The speakers for this webinar are Lindsay Lorimer and Rachel Cooper, product safety lawyers from the McMillan law firm in Toronto. Their bios are below:
Lindsay Lorimer Lindsay practises product liability law and regulation with a focus on class actions, jurisdictional issues and insurance and is consistently recognized for her expertise in numerous directories. She advises on product launches and market entry due diligence, regulatory challenges and enforcement, regulatory compliance, risk management issues and product recalls for clients in the automotive, manufacturing, life sciences and consumer products sectors. Lindsay also acts as national coordinating counsel for several manufacturing clients, managing their product liability litigation and regulatory matters across Canada. She provides advice to clients in relation to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act and routinely handles product recalls, working on global recall teams. Lindsay is Vice Chair of the Product Liability Committee for the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and the past Chair of DRI’s Children’s Products Specialized Litigation Group.
Rachel Cooper Rachel‘s practice focuses on products-related regulatory issues and product liability defence in the automotive, industrial manufacturing and consumer products sectors. She has extensive experience defending manufacturers in product liability actions, involving products ranging from automobiles, construction, agriculture, and industrial machinery, and recreational vehicles, to fire and security products, consumer products, building materials, and juvenile products. Rachel acts as national coordinating counsel for several manufacturing clients, managing their product liability litigation matters across Canada. She provides advice to clients in relation to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act and routinely handles product recalls, working on global recall teams. She further provides proactive risk management advice and strategies, including warnings and manual reviews. Rachel is a member of the Federation of Defence and Corporate Counsel, Vice Chair of the FDCC Product Liability Section, and Chair of the Building Products SLG for DRI.
