State and local jurisdictions often work to pass legislation that directly corresponds with issues in that state or region. The motivation for local action is often prompted by an incident, environmental change or lack of Federal guidance. The Baby Safety Alliance tracks these issues and works with all stakeholders to address the necessity of state regulations and the establishment of sound public policy. Some of the ongoing issues that the Baby Safety Alliance remains actively engaged in are:
When new legislation or regulations are introduced or changes to existing laws or regulations are proposed, the “public” which includes all stakeholders on the subject including business, consumer advocates and individual consumers are encouraged to share their perspective, opinions, data and incidents if available on the particular issue. This part of the legal and regulatory process is known as filing public comments. The Baby Safety Alliance takes the opportunity to make its position known and works to ensure sound public policy by weighing in on the issues that impact the juvenile industry.
